We offer the following acne and scar treatments for patients in Leeds, York & Manchester:
• Laser Pixel
• Medical Skin Peels
- What can I expect after skin peel treatment?
Your skin may look a little pink with slight swelling. This should completely disappear within 24 hours. Following your treatment, you should moisturise the skin, which will reveal a smoother, new layer of skin with improved texture and tone. It is important to avoid the sun for around four weeks.
- What is a skin peel?
A peel is an exfoliation stimulated by a chemical solution. It is a safe and common practice. Dermaceutic has been working with dermatologists for several decades and has extensive experience in this area.
- What is the benefit of a skin peel?
A peel in no way alters the shape of your face. It is an entirely natural and effective procedure performed by a professional. It is discreet, so those around you will find you radiant without knowing why!
- What happens during a session for a skin peel?
A session generally lasts 15 minutes and is made up of several steps: cleansing of the area to be treated, application of the peel and finally, only in certain cases, neutralisation. For most peels, you need to do at least 4 sessions a few weeks apart.
- What are the after effects of skin peels?
A few hours after the session, a slight redness to a sunburn effect will appear, depending on the type of treatment you have received.
- Are skin peels painful?
No, during the application of the peeling agent, you will feel tingling or a light feeling of heat, then everything will disappear in a few minutes or hours (with the speed depending on the strength of the peel).
- What safety precautions should I take when having a skin peel?
Tell us if you are pregnant, have had any allergic reactions, or are undergoing any beauty (hair removal, tanning, microdermabrasion) or medical treatment. You must be sure to protect yourself from the sun for at least a month after treatment.
- What is microdermabrasion?
The top layer of dead skin is removed with an exfoliating material and this is complemented with vacuum suction to gently lift up the skin promoting healthy new cell growth.
- How long does microdermabrasion skin treatment take?
Sessions usually last between 15 minutes to an hour. There is no recovery time required, meaning once your session is completed, you can get on with your day.
- Does microdermabrasion hurt?
No, this skin treatment has been likened to a cat licking the skin with its slightly rough yet gentle tongue.
- Is Dermaroller treatment safe?
Skin needling is a safe and precise procedure. The Genuine Dermaroller Therapy works by puncturing the outermost layers of your skin to create tiny pin prick injuries. These microscopic wounds will stimulate new collagen deposition until indented scars and deep lines are filled.
- What are the benefits of the Dermaroller?
The Dermaroller can achieve amazing results, noticeably improving the appearance of old scars or sun damaged skin, as well as revitalising and rejuvenating your appearance. As it is not necessary to remove the healthy skin with skin needling, the Dermaroller procedure offers a rapid healing time and is relatively painless. Unlike some skin therapies, there is no risk of permanent skin discolouration. Treatment is suitable for all skin types and does not result in skin sensitivity to UV light.
- When will I see the results?
Although the wounds close within an hour, visible signs of skin rejuvenation are seen after just six to eight weeks following the procedure and can continue for up to a year after the treatment.
- Does Dermaroller therapy hurt?
Local anaesthetic is applied to the affected area in order to numb it and the anaesthetic is then allowed to work over the course of 30 minutes. The actual Dermaroller procedure takes 20-30 minutes and is virtually painless.
- What happens after Dermaroller treatment?
Following treatment, a soothing cream is applied. You should continue to apply this cream for the next couple of days. For the first 24 hours the affected area will look red and may be slightly swollen, with an appearance very similar to mild sunburn. This is normal and is not painful.
- How many Dermaroller sessions will I need?
Significant results are often seen after the first treatment. Your practitioner may recommend between three and five treatments for optimum and long-lasting effects.
- Is there anything I should be aware of with Dermaroller skin treatments?
Dermaroller skin therapy should be avoided if you have active acne or are prone to certain types of scarring. Please call us to discuss.
