Laser Skin Resurfacing
What is Pixel™?
Pixel™ the next generation of laser skin resurfacing that helps to improve skin texture, tone and firmness, smooth wrinkles, reduces pore size and acne scars. Pixel™ works by plumbing the collagen in the skin without the downtime and discomfort associated with other resurfacing lasers.
Why is it different from other laser treatments?
The Harmony Pixel™ Laser delivers results similar to ablative lasers (lasers that resurface the skin) but without the side effects which can include significant irritation as the skin heals. The Harmony Pixel™ also can be used on many more body parts such as the face, neck, chest, arms and hands.

How does it work?
The Er:Yag Pixel™ laser uses a matrix of microscopic laser beams each the size of a human hair to drill into the skin leaving much of the surrounding skin undisturbed. Because nearby cells are not damaged they are able to move into the microscopic injured area and promote rapid healing.
Pixel™ is the next generation of fractional resurfacing that helps to improve skin texture, tone and firmness, smoothes wrinkles, and reduces pore size and acne scarring without the downtime and discomfit associated with other resurfacing: it combines the proven effectiveness of an ablative approach with the client comfort level and convenience of a non-ablative approach. Pixel™ skin resurfacing is based on the principle of microthermal treatment zones. The laser pulses create tiny ablative zones, removing the epidermis and upper dermis. The treatment then triggers the body’s natural healing process, stimulating the growth of new, healthy skin tissue.
The procedure treats small zones of the skin, leaving surrounding tissue untouched and intact. These large unaffected areas act as a reservoir for more effective and rapid tissue healing and collagen production. The bottom line: new, healthier, smoother tissue in place of skin imperfections.
What can patients expect?
Patients will find the skin around the treatment area feeling firmer with a smoother surface texture. They will not need pain medication and can return to work immediately after the treatment. There is little or no discomfort during the treatment. Most commonly, patients feel some slight warmth with the pulse of the laser. Patients experience a mild sunburn sensation afterward (3-4 hours) that is easily neutralized with a gentle moisturiser. Make-up can be applied immediately afterward.
What is the downtime?
There is relatively no down time. Redness may occur for a few hours to a few days and flaking for one or two days with full recovery in five days. How many treatments are necessary?
Skin resurfacing with the Pixel is a gradual process that happens over several treatments, usually 3-5 sessions at 2-4 week intervals.
