Legs
Sclerotherapy is a safe and well-established treatment for thread veins on the legs. Although there are a number of alternative treatments, it remains the most reliably successful of them all.

FAQs
Sclerotherapy treatment is where a solution is injected with a very tiny needle, very superficially into the veins of the legs causing the lining of the vein to swell and become sticky. Compression is then applied close to the veins. Over a period of time the vein will heal closed and then fade away.
Treatment for thread vein removal with sclerotherapy usually takes about 1.5hours, which includes a 30-minute consultation, followed by two 30-minute treatments.
Neither sclerotherapy or laser treatment hurts as we will apply an anaesthetic gel to the area first to help numb it.
We advise that up to four sessions may be required. You can expect an improvement of up to 90 per cent.
Short Wave Diathermy is a safe, comfortable and effective procedure that removes facial thread veins and unsightly blemishes. Put simply, Diathermy is a heat treatment that closes the broken blood capillaries that cause thread veins and blemishes. The procedure can be used to treat:
Facial thread veins – the permanently dilated capillaries commonly seen on a maturing ‘English rose’ complexion and caused by anything from smoking, pregnancy or harsh weather exposure.
Blood spots – slightly raised, bright red blemishes just under the skin’s surface, usually on the torso.
First, local anaesthetic gel is applied to numb the skin. Then we use a fine, hair-like needle to conduct a small electric current that heats up the blood in the veins and seals the vein shut. After treatment the skin will be pink from the heat and may also be a little puffy in areas, although this will settle in a few hours. On day two or three, tiny scabs may form but over the next few days everything should have settled down.
While the veins disappear immediately, they are still healing and the final results will only be seen after 4-6 weeks. The process can be repeated at this point if necessary. It’s a good idea to wear sunscreen in the summer months.
