What is Lutronic eCo2 Laser

The Lutronic eCo2 Laser is a fractional and ablative laser treatment, meaning varying depths, allowing you to choose your downtime whilst still giving you a tighter, more youthful, skin that’s even in tone, working by creating micro-injuries in the skin, to prompt your bodies natural process and accelerate collagen production. This is a fast and effective treatment that requires some downtime.

Why eCo2?

This innovative treatment is backed by amazing patient results and is proven to correct a number of skin concerns, such as wrinkles, under-eye skin laxity, skin texture, scarring, and pigmentation. This procedure works deeper than our other resurfacing lasers, providing a more extreme result.

1 hour

3 – 5 years

More Youthful, smooth and even skin, reduced fine lines and wrinkles, crepey skin, pigmentation and appearance of scarring.

Immediately following your laser treatment, the treated area may become red, swollen and tender to the touch. The skin will feel hot to the touch and swelling can be extreme. Swelling can last for 48-36 hours. The skin may ‘ooze’ slightly and there may be some pinpoint bleeding. The skin will develop crusts and ‘scabs’ which will slough off in 10-14 days. Avoid sun exposure. Avoid exercise, hot showers/baths for 48 hours.

FAQs

This treatment is not suitable for everyone and carries some risks. You wouldn’t be a candidate if you have active acne, active infections such as viral, fungal or bacterial, inflammatory skin conditions, very dark skin or skin cancer. Risks may include: redness, swelling, scarring, change of pigmentation. Our doctors and practitioners that provide this treatment are fully qualified.

Full ablation will most likely only need one session, with a top up in certain areas if needed. Results are seen after 3 – 14 days, with optimal results seen between 6 – 9 months.

Immediately following the treatment you will experience some redness and swelling. If you choose to be treated more aggressively, the redness will appear longer. This typically resolves in 1 – 2 weeks. During that time, with the exception of the first few days post-treatment and normal activities can be resumed within 5 – 7 days.

CO2 laser resurfacing is an advanced treatment that uses precise laser pulses to create controlled micro-wounds in the skin’s outer layer, the epidermis. This process vaporises damaged skin and heats the underlying dermis, stimulating the bodies natural healing response and boosting collagen production. As the skin heals, new, smoother, and firmer skin emerges. The procedure’s precision allows for targeted treatment of specific areas, ensuring that only the intended regions are treated while minimising impact on the surrounding skin. Over time, collagen continues to increase, eventually all the old collagen is replaced by new collagen, meaning optimal results are typically visible 6 to 9 months after the procedure.

Local anesthetic is applied to the affected area in order to numb it and the anesthetic is then allowed to work over the course of 30 minutes. The actual procedure takes 20-30 minutes and is virtually painless.

Depending on the area and concern, the treatment itself can last between 15-60 minutes. You will experience some discomfort with a hot, prickling sensation and mild – moderate swelling will appear after the area is treated.
