Microneedling

What is Microneedling

Microneedling is a procedure that stimulates the skin to regenerate and repair itself naturally and safely, creating smoother, brighter, healthier, younger-looking skin.

As well as being used to effectively combat fine lines and wrinkles, microneedling skin treatment can help people treat acne scars, reduce the effects of sun damage, stretch marks and improve the appearance of cellulite, hyper-pigmentation and enlarged pores.

Here at Skin Doctor Clinics we have replaced traditional dermarollers with the microneedling pen as it provides improved results with less discomfort.

FAQs

Skin needling is a safe and precise procedure. Microneedling works by puncturing the outermost layers of your skin to create tiny pin prick injuries. These microscopic wounds will stimulate new collagen deposition until indented scars and deep lines are filled. We can use Microneedling in conjunction with hyaluronic acid, skin lightening ingredients such as Glutathione, Vitamins A&C. The Microneedling allows better infusion of these products in the skin.

Although the wounds close within an hour, visible signs of skin rejuvenation are seen after just six to eight weeks following the procedure and can continue for up to a year after the treatment. Significant results are often seen after the first treatment. Your practitioner may recommend between three and five treatments for optimum and long-lasting effects.

This treatment should not be carried out if you have open lesions, skin cancer or are prone to certain types of scarring. Please mention any of the above in your consultation.

This treatment is suitable for anyone concerned with sun damage, scarring, ageing/wrinkles, enlarged pores, stretch marks and pigmentation.

Local anesthetic is applied to the affected area in order to numb it and the anesthetic is then allowed to work over the course of 30 minutes. The actual procedure takes 20-30 minutes and is virtually painless.

After your treatment your skin will be quite red and sensitive, we recommend that you avoid extreme heat, sun and make-up for 24 hours.
